Description
Hi. Here's a copy of what one supposes is a companion piece to the 1981 film of the same name - although no mention is made on the cover that this is the case. Still, like in the movie, these are "previously unreleased" (in 1981) live performances by a host of new wave / punk artists: The Police, The Go-Gos, Echo and the Bunnymen, XTC, Orchestral Manoeures in the Dark, Devo, X, Magazine, Gang of Four, Pere Ubu, Wall of Voodoo, Oingo Boingo, Gary Numan, Alley Cats, The Cramps, Fleshtones, 999, Skafish, Jools Holland, Athletico Spizz '80, Toyah Wilcox, the Au Pairs, Steel Pulse, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Klaus Nomi, John Otway, and the Members. (Whew! That's a long list!)
Both vinyl discs show signs of rubbing (against the inner sleeves, presumably), but I don't see any real scratches. A rating of "Very Good" seems fair to me. And speaking of the inner sleeves, originally both discs were housed in identical sleeves that look like the first one shown in the pictures provided (both side of it are shown). But the second sleeve was repaced by a plain white one somewhere along the way (picture of one side also shown) - but if it hadn't been, it would have lookd the same as the first sleeve. The cover itself shows little sign of wear: it's shiny, has no ring wear, and only extremly small "bumps" (if they can even be called that) on the corners.
On the top right side of the back cover is a stamp that reads "Demonstration Not For Sale", which I believe equates to this being a "promo" copy.
All in all, this seems like a good package for someone hung up on the pantheon of music acts that were fighting it out for attention in the 1980s. (Who the F is "Madonna"?! :-)
ENJOY!
