UNKNOWN acetate private 60s TEEN GARAGE ROCKABILLY SUZY-Q southeast JABCO hanuka


Super rare unique unknown unseen garage rockabilly acetate on audio disc label. This is early 60s pre-Beatles teen garage MONSTER HOLY GRAIL. These kids are tight! 

They are introduced by adult male and female voices from JABCO (Junior Achievement Broadcasting Company)  as Joe Strauss and The Shadows Of The Southeast.

They do Ricky Nelson's A Long Vacation, Shortnin' Bread, Suzy-Q, and I Got A Feelin. They are really good, the playing is great. Nice locked in bass and powerful drumming, great strumming and amazing fuzz guitar solos (not really fuzz since this was pre-Jimi!). Suzy Q is the best song, pre dating the classic CCR version. 

Though I can't verify a year, based on my research this is early 60s pre-Beatles. It is actually very good and a fun listen, and you can't hear it anywhere else.

The label has handwritten in pencil the song titles, the name Steve Manor, 78 rpm use 33 needle, and a very cool note "Happy Chanuka". This could be the first Jewish garage rockabilly! My guess is these kids back in the early 60s were given the opportunity to record and press an acetate for a Chanuka gift!

Goldmine grading:

In original audiodisc sleeve with same handwriting as label, reading "don't handle grooves - keep in jacket", sleeve has some wear and splits

10" 78 rpm metal shellac covered disc looks very nice for its age. Overall solid VG+. Has some light wear and dust, but plays quite well. Light noise throughout, some light pops at the very beginning, not overpowering, still a very enjoyable listen
