This is a chance to acquire Jeff Beck’s amazing first L.P. after he left the Yardbirds, together with the hit single, “Hi Ho Silver Lining” and some music press cuttings from around that time – one of which is the original review for “Truth”

COLUMBIA BLUE BLACK LABEL 

Overall condition is VERY GOOD

Sleeve VERY GOOD  Garrod & Lofthouse Flipback Sleeve. The sleeve is still bright and glossy in VERY GOOD condition with no tears or splits but there is slight ringware and light laminate creasing and some very light wear to two corners but otherwise is in very good condition with the colours still very bright there isn’t any writing, taping or stickers;

Spine there’s only minimal edge wear and the spine is firm and totally legible but has some slight creasing.

Inner Sleeve The original EMI advertising inner sleeve is still in good condition and features promotional photos of 32 other EMI albums. I will also include the original plastic outer that I bought with it, although it is starting to split slightly at the top, it still fits tightly and has successfully kept the dust off for all these years

Record VERY GOOD The record itself is clean and glossy and the disc retains its deep, black vinyl sheen. There are some faint hairline marks on both sides but nothing ugly or deep.

Labels Excellent The labels show some minimal signs of use, have no writing and are clean with minimal spindle marking. These are the Classic UK 1st Press blue & black EMI Columbia labels!!! 

Audio Quality VERY GOOD The record itself plays well apart from some of the usual vinyl hiss and crackle between tracks that unfortunately are noticeable in some of the quietest passages but vanish after a few seconds, although deep cleaning would probably remove them but they don’t detract from the overall sound, which is still amazing. It lays flat on the turntable and plays well without the needle sticking or jumping. 

Summary: this ICONIC, rock masterwork album was the first to be described as “HEAVY” (the word Metal wasn’t added until Black Sabbath came on the scene a year later) It is a lovely piece of genuine memorabilia from a bygone time that changed the world and would grace any collection. If you haven’t heard it on vinyl this could be for you. It certainly doesn’t sound forty-nine years old. It featured the most amazing line-up of Jeff Beck on guitar, Rod Stewart on Vocals and Ron Wood on bass with guest appearances by Nicky Hopkins and John Paul Jones! Beck’s guitar has never sounded more mournful than on Morning Dew and O'l Man River, while Stewart has never sounded more sincere and soulful in his subsequent career.

THE SINGLE: Hi-Ho Silver Lining

SLEEVE It is in the original sleeve which has some edge ware and slight creasing but is otherwise in VERY GOOD condition.

LABELS are in VERY GOOD condition showing some minimal signs of use, have no writing and are clean with minimal spindle marking. The classic RAK boat picture is still bright with sharp colours.

RECORD is clean and glossy and the disc retains its deep, black vinyl sheen. There are some faint hairline marks on both sides but nothing ugly or deep. I have not been able to play this single as I am awaiting a new stylus to play my 45’s with and don’t use the same one that I keep for LP’s. However, it should play well as it has been carefully stored since the early seventies and kept away from dust and heat.

PRESS CUTTINGS There are four that are taken from Melody Maker and Sounds, the smallest one of which is the original Melody Maker review of Truth! They are still clean and legible and I have not seen these particular cuttings offered for sale anywhere else.

I’m not a dealer of any sort, but am just downsizing and having to clear things out and trying to survive on a poxy pension. I’m starting it at a sensible price so a genuine fan or collector can enjoy it without paying rip off prices Good luck with your bidding and feel free to ask any question.

I use 12" Vinyl LP Record Cruciform postal mailers and protect them with an additional layer of bubblewrap. In the UK I use Royal Mail Signed For. If you require some other form of postage/delivery, I’m more than happy providing you meet the extra costs. If you are outside the UK, I will use Ebay’s own service.
