Description
Wonderful and rare 1962 original UK pressing (420 code in matrices - Holland is 670) of Robert Johnson's King of the Delta Blues Singers on Philips' Classic Jazz Masters series, BBL 7539. Jacket printed in Holland for UK market. Appearing the year after the American CBS release the Philips beat the UK CBS version by four years. The record is an incredible top NM. Is that a spindle trail I can make out on the textured matt black label on side 1? Oh yes.. the only one. The front-only laminated pocket style gatefold jacket has some wear to the tips, but the edges and the fabric interior reinforced spine is otherwise without fault. No thumb creases or losses to the laminate. However someone has written 'catalogued' below the catalogue number on the verso and there is also a light surface sticker removal burn, so I'll have to call it Ex-. Nice original lined innerbag is present but the record has long been protected in a new poly-lined bag. Essential.

Used records play-checked on SME 15, SME V with VDH cart and cleaned when necessary on a Loricraft Pro II.
GRADINGS:
MINT (M): Brand new and unplayed. Perfect, no indications of being handled or played. I only use this grading if I know for sure the record has not been played.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record is virtually flawless, clean and shiny. Very minor, barely visible innerbag wear may be permitted, but no scratches. Jacket is as close to perfect.
EXCELLENT (EX): Record plays near perfectly, but may have minor paper scuffs that do not interfere with the sound quality. There can possibly be a non-sounding mark or two but nothing that affects play. Record is clean and shiny. Any issues with the jacket will be minor and described.
Because I have never collected records that are a lower grade than EX, you won’t be finding any for sale here.
