WITH MUCH APPRECIATION TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS: If you have a question on orders received, please contact us. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. When leaving Feedback, please consider the following: eBay's policy on the 5-star rating system is anything less than a 5 reduces our standing with eBay and ultimately can affect our selling abilities. SO please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.
We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.
We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday. We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.
TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS: We are happy to hold orders to save on shipping. Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and, if you request, we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.
As always, thank you for your support!
RARE 1971 MINTY CLEAN BRITISH ORIGINAL
2xLP "NEON" RECORDS FIRST PRINTING
CENTIPEDE
SEPTOBER ENERGY
UK - RCA NEON RECORDS - NE 9
RARE & CLEAN 1971 UK ORIGINAL 2xLP set...a TOP COPY that contains an array of UK underground progressive musicians from Soft Machine, King Crimson, Nucleus & more!
Contains the original black plastic lined inner sleeves as well...
The who's who in early 70's British prog rock are involved in this double LP. Just to highlight a few-- our Soft Machine friends Robert Wyatt, Elton Dean, Karl Jenkins (also of Nucleus), Marc Charig, Nick Evans, Roy Babbington (also of Nucleus), John Marshall (also of Nucleus), and Phil Howard; also involved were Keith Tippett's wife Julie Driscoll, Ian Carr (of Nucleus), Ian MacDonald, Gary Windo, and Mongezi Feza (the last two played on Robert Wyatt's "Rock Bottom" album). So, it is a veritable Canterbury Scene "who's who". And it was all produced by none other than King Crimson leader, Robert Fripp.
The music is definitely along the avant-garde, free jazz & progressive lines. It's strange.
This is a very unique and original record that mixes free jazz and avant-garde music with early 70s hippie jam freakouts and compositional variety. Although this record features a lot of musicians from King Crimson and Soft Machine, and occasionally sounds like either of those bands more "out" moments, a lot of this record has more in common with ultra-expressive jazz musicians such as Pharoh Sanders.
Part one mixes semi-Gregorian vocal drones with free jazz sections. Part two opens with a mellow string and soft percussion drone before heading into a bluesy funk jam that eventually slips into a free jazz jam. Part three is probably the most interesting with a long repeating string part backed with drums that is somewhat similar to Crimson's Devil's Triangle or something off of K.C."Lizard", especially when Nick Evans and the other players pile up chaotic solos on top of each other. This side ends with some layered vocal improvs similar to Cathy Berbarian's work with Luciano Berio. Part 4 is interesting, it mostly contains a very 60s sounding utopian socialist hippie chant. The various soloists add what they can, but the purely instrumental sections on this album are far better than the sections with vocals.
Robert Fripp is the producer on this record and it is interesting to notice how much influence he picked up from working with Keith Tippet. Some of the Crimson cuts that show influence from this record include the quiet opening section on Larks Tounge, the vocal improvs on Formentara Lady, the bluesy funk jams that build into free jazz on Earthbound, and a lot of the improv music on Lizard and Poseidon.
This is a surprisingly good record and unique from a lot of other similar albums that were coming out at this time because Tippet broke the improv sections up with custom composed sections that give the record variety in texture and volume.
