Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. **************************************************************************
Because the cover signature does not come with certificate of authenticity we have to auction the item with focus that this album, hoewver valuable it may well be, is the rarely seen MINT condition 1973 BRITISH PRESSING of David Bowies "Pin-Ups" ... the item was obtained by British author *Mark Hayward who had knowledge the signature on this cover is authentic and was personal copy of UK movie assistant director David Alexander who included a 1969 dated and rather worn "Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer British Studios LTD. film production notice, that has nothing to do with the album, other than the album coming from the directors personal collection, and he may well had access to David Bowie. However, to be perfectly safe we'll call it "writing on the jacket" and perhaps prosperous as a rather impressive investment item - we are in no position to clarify - so we won't.  The movie production item was inside the pocket of this album.

  • * Mark Hayward has long collected photographs and has built up a comprehensive collection of (seldom or unseen) Beatles & Rolling Stones images to which he has published books of such in England.

  • RARE U.K. FINAL COLLECTION COPY!!!

  • Original BRITISH 1973 first pressing of an underrated album where BOWIE does a flashback to the sixties, where the Spiders From Mars slash & thrash:::

  • Spiders From Mars guitarist Mick Ronson is the shining light on Pin Ups.

  • Includes (mint) the scarce double sided insert = LP complete as released in 1973

  • Produced by Ken Scott and Bowie, the tunes delivered here lean on Bowie favorites from the '60s, which includes songs originally recorded by The Yardbirds, Pink Floyd, Them, The Who, The Kinks and much more. It's basically a roll-call of s British bands that Bowie admired during his early days as a struggling beat musician. The song selections are all solid, with a lot of fire here coming from the backing band (The Spiders From Mars last appearance on a Bowie album), with Mick Ronson's raw guitar work propelling album highlights such as The Pretty Things rave-up 'Rosalyn', The Who's 'I Can't Explain', and a laconic version of The Kinks 'Where Have All the Good Times Gone'. Indeed, the way Bowie re-works "I Can't Explain" or "See Emily Play" into totally new songs by changing tempos and arrangements suggests that he perceived Pin Ups as an artistic statement, or at least an artistic intervention ..check out how Bowie plays up the weirdness in Pink Floyd's "See Emily Play" - complete with way-out backing vocals and an "I Am The Walrus" type finish... Overall, an interesting oddity in the early '70s Bowie career ...The album has a good song collection that shows Bowie's fine taste is not limited to fashion and album covers. The Who, Kinks, Syd Barrett Pink Floyd, not to mention several lesser known "Nuggets-styled" sixties singles are all included and performed with passion and respect.
