Description

Was lucky enough to catch these boys on the Strangers in the Night tour. They were still playing small town venues (Chelmsford is where I saw them) but about to move up a gear. Lights out is a great album, two before Strangers and No Place to Run is the first album after it. Both show a band capable of rocking hard but also writing great songs that were not necessarily heavy.  I always felt UFO and Sammy Hagar were great songwriters but had to emphasise their heavy side because that was the fashion of the time. Nonetheless whichever way you look at it Strangers in the Night is one of THE great live albums. Despite all that No place to run is my favourite UFO album because it showcases the bands range plus it has possibly the greatest opening tracks of any albu. Alpha Centauri /Letting Go is a fantastic way to open an album but the strength of the album is that there is no anti climax afterwards.
