Description

You are bidding on a Promo copy of the 1981 LP from U2, “October.” This is their second album, and this Vinyl LP was released in 1981 on Island Records (Island ILPS 9680).  This appears to be an original 1981 release, not the more common 1983 Reissue.  (See Photos for Promo sticker).

If you need more info, please ask!  If we can help pin it down, we would be glad to do it.  We will be glad to check Matrix and runoff numbers.

We purchased this item decades ago, played it (and enjoyed it!), and it has been sitting in our home (vertically) for the last few decades.

The condition of the LP is EX. The LP cover looks good, but there is visible wear around the corners.  (See Photos).  The inner sleeve has pictures and recording information.  There is some wear and “Wrinkling.” (See Photos).

Please remember that this album was well taken care of, but it was played as part of our record collection decades ago. with only very minor wear

This item has been stored at room temperature, in a smoke free home.  Please see photos of actual item being sold.

“U2: October”  (1981):

“Somewhere between the innocence and angst of Boy, and the political awareness that fueled the fires of War, October paints U2 in sepia tones, with the raw energy of Boy, but reaching for the political angle of War and other later albums.

This was also the album where a notebook of Bono's lyrics and song concepts lost shortly before the recording sessions changed the material available, so October's more improvised songs have a more immediate, off the cuff impact than the artful mists and clouds of Boy.

Despite the pains of its creation, October has one of the most beautiful turns of mood in the songs 'Fire', 'Tomorrow', and the brooding Winstonesque 'October', with it's world-weary piano introduction like something from George Winston, courtesy The Edge.

It's not a perfect album, but it is one that brings me much closer to the band than many more carefully crafted recordings, and I have always been drawn to its flaws as much as the perfect call of 'Gloria'.”
