They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute.

U2 1983 PROMO LP War Cover has Timing Strip and GOLD Stamp, Numbered EX NM Vinyl!

Purple label.  From what I’ve been able to determine over the years, the purple label and the dark blue label are about equal in scarcity.

Vinyl--- EX/NM.  Side 1 has one extremely light angel hair that is far too fine to show up in a photo.  Tilt the surface toward a strong light source to find it.  Side 2 looks unplayed. 

Side 2 has a tiny white spec pressed into the grooves at the factory in track 2.  Non-feelable.

Plates--- ST IL 835155 E 1-3 “SRC” (Specialty Records) stamp/ ST IL 835156 E 1-3 “SRC” (Specialty Records) stamp.

Cover--- Nice VG+.  No split seams.  Light ringwear on the front, moderate ringwear on the back.  Top and bottom seams have light slick loss.  Full gloss.

Gatefold--- VG+.  Light wear, full gloss.  NO CENTER SEAM SPLITS.

Timing Strip--- Nice VG.  No damage to the timing strip at all, just moderate dirtwear and a tiny crease that occurred when the strip was applied to the cover.

Gold PROMO Stamp--- NM.  Stamp is deep, bold and complete.  No gold flaking off, or partially-imprinted letters! 

PROMO number is S 562826.

Labels--- NM/NM.  They look as fresh as they did when they were printed in 1975.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Inner Sleeve--- Generic white.

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
