Records are shipped in dedicated record mailers via Media Mail (in the US) or First Class International (outside of the US). I only reuse mailers that are in great shape and clearly ready for another trip around the world. Unless sealed, I remove records from their jacket covers when shipping to decrease the chance that they split the jacket on their way to you.

I visually inspect records and jacket covers using "Goldmine" grading standards.

- NM :: This looks like it was just purchased new and opened for the first time.
No noticeable wear or anything else to speak of.
- EXC / VG++ :: This is something that simply sneaks between the NM and VG+.
Goldmine refers to this as the "higher end" of VG+, to me it just means there are
just one or two specific, very minor things that keep it from the NM grading.
- VG+ :: VG+ records may show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs
or very light scratches that don't affect the listening experience. There could be
light ring wear, discoloration or a very light crease or wrinkle to the jacket cover,
but it should be barely noticeable.
- VG :: A VG record may have surface noise, and some scratches may be audible,
but noise won't overpower the audio. VG jacket covers will have many signs of
handling, ring wear, rough edges, split seems, and maybe multiple light creases.
