I bought this album from its original owner during early Covid days of 2020 (I bought a LOT of records that year). Said owner (a great seller on Discogs) worked at a record store in Austin, TX, in 1996. A rep from the label gave him this copy, and he took it home. He listened to it a few times and stuck it on the shelf. (Note that technically, this is the 2nd pressing from 1996, but it's still a gorgeous OG copy.)
For transparency, I paid $600 for this record (so if it sells for say, 700, I won’t even break even after fees/IRS. Lol). I later upgraded to a NM copy, and then I bought a sealed copy for way too much dough....In short, I'm looking to find a new and good home for one of the greatest albums of all time. It kinda hurts to sell it; I've been to 22 Tool shows and am a Tool nut in general, but I just don't need it.
So, to the flaws:
Promo notch. This resulted in a small crease in the top-right corner (see close-up pic), small promo cuts on the inner sleeves, and some creasing in the center of the gatefold.
Vinyl: Excellent overall, but if you look closely under a light at certain angles, there are some faint paper marks/hairlines, along with a couple of faint "streaks" that probably happened during pressing. Nothing deep at all. The same faint hairlines are on my other copy as well, so I guess it's common.
Overall: It's a really solid copy, with the cover grading as a solid VG+ and the vinyl grading the same, with the argument that the records are pretty close to EX/NM-territory.
Note: I don't have a turntable and haven't listened to this in 3 years (I listened once when I bought it), so I can't test it, but it played great back in the day and has been in MoFI sleeves ever since. I'll ship with the records outside of the sleeve to avoid seam-splits (you can have the MoFI sleeves too).
