Chills & Fever / Breathless (Decca acetate) 1964

This was Tom Jones's debut 45, and is in a thumping R&B vein, far removed from his subsequent MOR work. I have no idea if this is the released version, as I've never had a copy. This is an advance acetate and clearly a seriously rare piece.  Interestingly, the word 'Vocalion' is written on the A-side label, suggesting that it was originally intended for release on that Decca subsidiary.

 

The disc has some spotting and light marks, but plays fine. I have made no attempt to clean it.
