Description
PLEASE READ AUCTION LISTING NARRATIVE CAREFULLY!!! Up for bid is a Pre-Sale for Vault Package #26 from Third Man Records. This is not a bootleg. Its an authorised and official release from Third Man Records. Ships with insurance and delivery confirmation. If you do not read details below you have no one to blame but yourself. Due to ship December 2015 if no delays (which I doubt).
As Third Man prepares for the unveiling of its new storefront location in the Cass Corridor in Detroit, we’ve naturally looked back to our history and roots there. Less than a mile from the new TMR location (441 West Canfield) sat an important bar called the Gold Dollar. This bar not only hosted the first two live performances by the White Stripes (both featured in Vault package #13), but quite a few more legendary early sets by the band. Through their woodshedding Detroit years, the Gold Dollar stage would be where the White Stripes would continue to make their most important progress. After the Stripes finished the tracking of their first album (also taking place just a stone’s throw from the Dollar) in January 1999, they immediately focused attention on a live performance at the Gold Dollar on Saturday February 6th, 1999. Lead singer Jack White designed and printed two striking, distinct flyers to promote the show and the local free weekly Metro Times even did a mini-preview on the band to drum up interest for the show. With good friends They Come in Threes supporting the Stripes' second-ever headlining show, the gig was notable for the first-ever live performances of songs “Astro”, “Suzy Lee” and the Robert Johnson classic “Stop Breaking Down”…all of which would be featured on their self-titled debut album released just three months later. The transitional nature of the setlist of this performance captures the band as they grapple with the impending release of their new album and the best way to showcase that material prior to its release.
As the focal point of Vault package #26, a complete recording from that evening, newly mixed from original multi-track sources, will be pressed on blood red vinyl and made available to subscribers worldwide. Live at the Gold Dollar Vol. III is the third release (Vault 13 comprised both volumes I and II) in an on-going series that will eventually see the release of all extant audio from the band at the Gold Dollar. There are still many unheard treasures to be revealed. This is the first White Stripes show released from the pivotal year 1999…the year which saw the band unleash their first album, do their first extended run of touring with three shows opening for Pavement in the Southeast and found Jack White buying his soon-to-be trademark Airline guitar…all building blocks to what would eventually turn the band into the international juggernaut they became.

In conjunction with the live album, a reproduction of one of the Jack White-designed flyers for that evening… three black-and-white peppermints, each varying in circumference and oriented on top of each other…will be included in the package as an 10.75” x 14" iron-on transfer. All Vault members will be welcome to submit photos of their use of the transfer and the member who’s submission is considered the “best” by the TMR team will win a rare, limited test pressing of the aforementioned LP.
Additionally, the other flyer from that evening (also a peppermint, this time on a field of red sparkly naugahyde) AND the setlist as written in Jack’s hand will be included as high-quality color reproductions. Fully utilizing everything in the TMR archives to round out the package finds us also printing the news clipping of the show preview and the hand-written price list from the merch table for that night. Third Man is nothing if not thorough.
Completing the Gold Dollar presentation will be two full-color, 8 x 10, glossy prints of photographs taken by the estimable Doug Coombe, featuring Jack and Meg live on stage at the tiny Cass Corridor club in 1999. These are visually arresting to say the least.
The 7” for Vault 26 is a continuation of the Dead Weather single series, pairing the moving torch song “Impossible Winner” and “Mile Markers.” When complete, every song from the Dead Weather’s critically-lauded album Dodge and Burn will appear exclusively in 7” form as a single on captivatingly colored vinyl. Are these two songs a hint as to the next possibly music video to come from this merry band of grifters…it seems only time will tell. In the meantime, enjoy Alison belt this one out complete with string section accompaniment and revel in the inherent beauty in this transcendent album-closer.
Harkening back to where this all started, the bonus item for this vault package will be an impressive 1.25” enamel pin of the new Third Man Records Cass Corridor logo. Soon to be seen on the lapels and collars of bon vivants the world over, this dazzling pin will no doubt impress even the most die-hard skeptics.
- PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING RULES OF THE AUCTION. THEY ARE NOTED DUE TO RECENT PROBLEMS WITH BUYERS. I KNOW IT IS A LOT, BUT HOPEFULLY IT WILL ALLEVIATE ANY PROBLEMS LATER. IF YOU REFUSE TO READ OR FOLLOW THE AUCTION RULES, YOU HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT YOURSELF:
The seller sets the rules for the auction, not the buyer. All of these rules that follow are well within the Ebay guidelines.
1) Payment is due within 4 days of auction end. If payment not made, an unpaid item case will be filed with Ebay.
2) Feedback given once buyer gives feedback first. If intent on leaving negative feedback or not happy with item, email me first.
3) With records becoming more popular in the last few years and pressing plants working many hours to meet demand, it is literally impossible to check the condition of every single record thoroughly. Not all records will come out entirely flat; there may be a slight rise and fall to them. Keep in mind, THEY ARE NOT "WARPED"! A warped record means it may sound a little distorted or be unplayable. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS GIVEN UNLESS THE RECORD SOLD FALLS INTO THIS LAST STATEMENT. So if you need that absolutely pristine record that is perfectly flat, this may not be the auction for you.
4) Before you bid on an item, consider shipping costs, handling time, and other shipping services. Review the item description carefully. If you have any questions about shipping or anything else, contact the seller beforehand, NOT AFTER THE SALE!
5) International Buyers: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying. (Overseas buyers are responsible for any final fees due to importation, not the seller! I will also not alter shipping label in any way to lessen costs. This is shipping fraud. Anyone asking me to do so will be reported by me to eBay immediately).
6) International Buyers: If you can not interpret the rules of this auction due to a language barrier, you may want to have someone who understands English explain it to you. It's not my problem/responsibility if you don't understand. By bidding you are expressing to me you understand and are taking responsibility for your actions.
7) You must pay for any item you commit to buying. Each bid you make is a binding contract to buy the item you win. The same is true for Buy It Now purchases. Not paying for an item after you agree to buy it has negative consequences, explained in Ebay's Unpaid Item Policy.
8) Shipping options (ex: First Class, Media, Priority) specified in the listing will be the only one(s) offered, no substitutions. Demanding a change to the shipping method or delivery location, other than those specified in the listing is a violation of Ebay policy. (Any buyer asking me to change to a shipping method not listed in the auction will be reported to eBay by me immediately-this goes especially for non U.S. buyers! Exception to the rule is if buyer requests a faster method of shipping and to pays the extra cost). THIS SHIPS OVERSEAS PRIORITY ONLY!
9) You may ask whether the seller will combine shipping for multiple purchases (invoice will be sent to buyer for updated shipping costs within reason). 10) You may ask the seller if it's acceptable if your payment is briefly delayed due to exceptional circumstances.
11) Delivery confirmation will be supplied. Buyer is responsible for tracking package. If package listed as delivered and buyer never received it, contact your local Post Office. Also, seller is not responsible if item is delivered and buyer did not make arrangements to secure item (ex: away on business, vacation, etc.).
12) Sealed records may be shipped outside jacket to avoid seam splits upon request after buyer makes purchase. Seller not responsible for any audio defects on sealed/unplayed items.
13) Records/sleeves graded "Near Mint" means there are minor imperfections (ex: minor corner dings, creases, splits, etc.), i.e. not a perfect copy.
14) Used records are graded NM, M, EX, VG+, VG, and G. I grade on audio quality, not appearance. And just because it does not skip on my turntable, does not mean it won't skip on yours.
15) LP records are shipped in standard LP mailers and packed securely. 7" records may be shipped in mailers or envelopes and are secured. If for some reason you want extra secure packing (ie double boxing), it will cost extra. Wait for updated invoice before paying.
16) Finally, if a winning bidder: Does not want it after it is paid for and demands their money refunded, Mistakenly bid on or claims someone else did and does not want item (exception: bid retraction before auction end. If you can't figure out how to remedy situation, refer to eBay policies), Is not able to redeem a gift card or coupon, Claims they somehow received same item from an outside source, or Purchased item in hand/pre-sale item and found it cheaper or from another source before it shipped to them from Ebay seller (if item is delayed beyond stated time of arrival, I have no problem offering a refund), be advised, YOU WILL NOT BE EXCUSED OR REFUNDED. ALL SALES ARE FINAL IN THESE SITUATIONS!
17)APO/FPO addresses will ship PRIORITY MAIL and adressees will pay for this service. Wait for invoice to be sent in these situations. I DO MY UTMOST TO BE A FAIR AND RESPONSIBLE SELLER; ITS ONLY FAIR FOR YOU TO BE A RESPONSIBLE BUYER
