Description
I am Pleased to be able to offer a first press copy of:
The Beatles-Rubber Soul(Loud Cut)
Matrix side 1: XEX 579-1 Mother: 1 Stamper:PO
Matrix side 2:XEX 580-1 Mother: 2 Stamper: AL
The first press of Rubber soul known to collectors as the loud cut was only sold for a few days on initial release as the mix was deemed to be too bass and vocal heavy, my own opinion is that it is a wonderful warm mix and sounds amazing and is not at all "muddy" as has been claimed by some (listen to the sound file for evidence of how good the mix is).
as you can tell from the low Mother numbers this is a very early first press of the Loud Cut, the side 1, PO stamper equates to the number 65 and the the AL on side 2 equates to the number 38 so from this information we can tell that side 1 was pressed from the 65 stamper created from the first side 1 mother and side 2 was pressed by the 38th Stamper created by the second side 2 mother so this copy of the loud album has really good pedigree as most experts claim that the the earlier pressings sound better because the Mothers are the very early mothers created from the origonal source material.
A note on this copy, the Person whom I bought this copy from had owned it from new and had taped it, played it a few times over a period during the mid sixtees and then stored it for the best part of forty years and it really shows in the condition, never forget this is a 45 year old record and cover and it is very unusuall not to find them in degraded conditions especially on the back cover which is unlaminated so attracts dirty fingermarks like a magnet, there most certainly is evidance that it has been played as it is not a perfect Vault copy but is most excellent to find in this condition never the less.
I have played this copy several times on my Hi fi consisting of a Linn Axis Deck with a £150 MM cartidge tracking at 1.5 grammes and listened through a pair of Rogers LS7's a very sensative setup which will pick up any imperfections in the record and they will be heard through the speakers so please check out the sound file I have include so you can be sure you will be happy with the quality of the recording, i start the recording as soon as i lower the stylus onto the record so the level of any background noise in between tracks can be heard clearly. please click on the link below to hear the random tracks recorded straight from the trecord onto my computer into a WMA lossless format and then on to Youtube i have not enhanced anything or added any filters... what you hear is what you get.

Condition of what the record Looks like:side 1: EX+ Side2:EX
when viewed under a very bright light extremely fine hairlines are viewable on both sides and on side two several light marks.
under normal viewing conditions I cant see any marks on side one, on side two several very light marks are viewable (holding the record at an angle so that sunlight illuminates the marks) seven in total that i can make out, only one of them is slight more pronounced, thought it is still only a light mark and not a scratch.
both sides of the record are very shiny and clean..a most excellent copy..it looks amazingly clean and well looked after !!!
Condition of how the record sounds:Both sides:EX+
Please listen to the recording to hear just how well this copy plays, pretty much crackle free, a stunning copy, plays through with no clicks or jumps as a record collector myself and especially The Beatles I would be more than happy to have this copy of the loud cut to augement my own record collection did i not already own a copy, this copy is audiophile quality..there is no loss of sound quality whatsover which only goes to show how little it has been played over the last 45 years
Condition of the labels: Both sides:EX
the labels are in really splendid condition, only the tiniest amount of whitening around the spindle hole (more proof of how little this copy has been played) when viewed at an angle light marks are viewable around the spindle hole where the spindle has marked the label whilst placing the record onto a deck, otherewise pefect.
Condition of origonal tracing paper lined Emitex inner sleeve:EX
really nice undamaged condition.
Condition of Outer record sleeve:EX to EX+
Please see photos below
The Garrod & Lofthouse Cover is in stunning condition, the front cover is completely clean unmarked, the spine is stong, and all the printing is clear apart from a small mark on part of the O of Soul, the back cover is extremelly clean considering it is not laminated, the edges of the flipbacks are clean and tidy, the unlaminated back shows only minimul signs of handling wear, the leading edges were the record is removed are still strong and show only minimul signs of handling wear.
the cover shows minimul signs of usage and wear in the following palaces
- bottom right hand corner leading edge shows light wear on the edge
- top corner of spine shows tiny and light impact damage
- top edge has three small marks one (above pauls ear.) wher a very small piece of laminate is missing
Though this is me being very fussy on your behalf..it is still extremely rare to find a cover in such stunning condition as this one completely free of stickers sellotape or any other nasties
This really is a magnificent example of this extremelly rare version of Rubber Soul you will not be dissapointed in the overall quality of this copy

I Use the Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:
Please note I will use + and – to denote grades in-between the ones mentioned below.
"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
