Description

Them - Now And Them - 1968 MONO 1st Press T-5104 Tower

After Van Morrison left THEM, the band (In 1967) relocated from Ireland to California in the middle of Summer Of Love to record this album, "NOW- and THEM"....The album opens with British-invasion-acid-garage tune "I'm Your Witch Doctor" - hard tempo with groovy organ made this short number sweet, but as well trippy. Next song is "What's the Matter Baby" and intro riff sure sounds like intro riff to the Doors' "Hyacinth House" - it's not just a coincidence, Them were hugely influenced by The Doors and they toured together quite often, although mentioned song was released in 1970, 3 years after the release of "What's the Matter Baby". "Truth Machine" is another acid rock number with poppy flavor - Beatlesque guitars and catchy chorus. However, the next song may not take only your breath, but your mind as well. "Square Room", a long psychedelic jam track with Eastern flavors, in the range with other epic psychedelic classics of the era, that clocks over 7 minutes -- like "The End" from The Doors or "The Fool" by Quicksilver Messenger Service, or even "Mind Flowers" from Ultimate Spinach. Guitar sound is so mind-bending, those tempting violins are an ultimate touch to the exploding consciousness, and we love the integrity of the jam, they never go too experimental, always staying under boundaries of good taste - but the boundaries of tripping are already broken.... "You're Just What I Was Looking For Today" continues in regular acid rock fashion, bit of pop - bit of psych. Addition of a flute makes song sound much more nicer. "Dirty Old Man (At The Age Of Sixteen)" is probably top of garage-psych they achieved on this album. Sounding like it was included in "Nuggets" collection, gritty voice of Kenny McDowell is perfect for atmosphere. Fuzz guitar, harsh ragged and beautiful garage...Then, "Nobody Loves You When You're Down and Out" is soulful ballad with chill atmosphere - tempo is a really ear-candy, overall 'nice'. "Walking In The Queen's Garden" is another potential "Nuggets" tune - sounding like Eric Burdon & The Animals just about when they moved to California in the 1967 (when they recorded "Wind Of Change") - organ and distorted fuzzy garage guitar are main actors here. "I Happen To Love You" is a kicker - it's like The Kinks on acid - fuzz guitar, but with hippie flute to trip out. "Come To Me" is last song on album, with soothing rhythm recalling hippie folk, mixed with British-invasion ballad style.   In overview, "Square Room" is the main attraction ....hazy vocals and atmosphere and such great songwriting peaking, but others are great collectible garage psych sounds as well. Coming highly recommended to all garage-psych (The Nuggets) fans and British-Invasion-went-psychedelic followers.

POSTAGE & SHIPPING:

INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE rates vary from country to country. For SPECIFIC international and domestic postage rates ?see eBay shipping calculator

All records are carefully packaged in 2-3 mm poly outer sleeves and shipped in new custom cardboard mailers. To prevent splitting, I ship the record outside the jacket.

I ship U.S. Postal Service Media Mail. I have found Media Mail to be quick, safe and reliable. Plus it saves you money. If you would prefer another shipping method, just let me know and I will calculate the cost.

After the auction ends E bay will auto-invoice you. If you do not think the eBay invoice is correct, just contact me. PayPal is preferred method of payment,

I combine shipping so the more you order, the less the shipping per record. I package records carefully in a sturdy record mailer.

Shipping estimates are based on current USPS prices for domestic and international shipping + a small amount for quality packaging (we use mailers and stiffeners for each record).

US Postal Service Media Mail is preferred in the US: $3.85, Priority Mail is another option: $12.00

International buyers - Shipping is $4 in the US....and worldwide shipping is available, with shipping calculated by weight to your part of the world (see eBay shipping calculator). Also, right below the description, I have created a bullet point list of international shipping costs.....records are usually just under 1 pound so you'll see that after 4 lbs., the price per extra record starts to settle down a bit. If you're bidding on a bunch and are price sensitive, please ask me for a shipping quote for a number of records and I'll be happy to weigh them for you and let you know what the cost will be to your address.

Records are shipped in dedicated record mailers with padded inserts. I spend a lot of time and money on shipping with care so your record looks as good when it arrives as it did when it left. If you successfully win more than one item, please wait until I send an invoice for payment. This is typically done within a few hours after the close of auctions. Thanks and good luck!

International shipping rates have really skyrocketed lately. Here is what packages will cost, based on their weight to any country outside of the US and Canada. Please consider these costs when you are placing your bid.

  • 5 lbs.- $75    6 lbs.- $75   7 lbs.- $80   8 lbs.- $

  • I hate how much shipping costs, but it is out of my control.

I am always willing to combine shipping for multiple items.

Please email me to discuss a problem before leaving negative or neutral feedback.

Please Note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s responsibility. Please check with your country’s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.
