Description
Thelonious Monk Trio (1956, Prestige 7027) Strong VG/VG, Original 1st Pressing
Artist: Thelonius Monk Trio (2 different incarnations featuring Max Roach, Art Blakey, Percy Heath and Gary Mapp)
Album: Thelonius Monk Trio
Description: Original 1956 Mono 1st Pressing of this Jazz classic. Captures two different early Monk sessions. Has all the indications of a 1st press: the fireworks label with NYC address, 2-line band name and deep groove around label. This one is recorded by Rudy Van Gelder and sounds really good. A near mint example of this albums just sold on eBay for $676.
Sleeve Condition: Strong VG, Can't call this a VG+ because it does have an approx 5" split at the bottom edge. Other than that though this thing looks really nice. The cover has nice original sheen with no marks, no tears, no bends and no other splitting. There is some light scuffing and some very minor discoloration the back. There is also some small pin indentions on one of the back corners. In a sleeve on display, it looks near mint. It's only on closer inspection that you see the wear. Original inner sleeve is gone, but I have added an archival rice paper/poly inner that protects the record very well.
Vinyl: Again this is a Strong VG, visually it's a VG as there are a handfull of light scratches on both sides. None of the scratches are deep and none are feelable. Still has lots of original sheen. The record plays really well, I'd say it plays VG+. There is some brief light noise in a couple of spots, nothing major and nothing long-lasting. It could probably even been detail cleaned to make it sound a little better. Labels are bright and yellow, great color. No writing or stickers. Some light discoloring around the hole on side B.
I want buying from me to be a good experience for you. I also know that condition can be very subjective, so I encourage you to see pics for exact condition details and ask questions if you need additional information. As always, the item you see is the one you will get. Please see my feedback, I think that will show that I am an accurate and fair grader and make sure my customers are happy.
