Description

An original 1st issue on CBS in the UK from 1964. Matrix 1/1. This is a genuine Philips [v420] pressed 1st stereo copy from 1964. Labels exhibit '1st published 1964'. It's a very nice early and audibly impressive copy. It comes housed in an original E J Day <STEREO>cover.  We also have the original inner sleeve from the time too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In really nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I'm only making out a couple of very light marks per side. Nice surfaces. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a level of playback mostly at EXCELLENT with one deviation. Really nice quiet intros and inbetweens and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Actual audio quality is CBS - they certainly new how to make a great pressing. The audio is warm and lush - excellent reproduction. The only issue I could detect was a few crackles at the start of side 1. It cleans up reasonably quickly - and runs CLEAN from there on in. Very rarely do early 60's jazz records sound this good - consistently.
Cover (Vg+) Difficult to find these early covers in great nick, but this example is looking pretty spritely. Lovely clean and flat front without creasing. Please note the colours have bleached along that spine edge. The rear has avoided the worst of the ageing process - but there is the odd spot here and there [mostly the extremities]. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity in part thanks to the heavy card employed in manufacture.
Inner (Vg+) Minimal ageing. One side split has been taped up.
