Original 1966 first pressing in glorious punchy MONAUAL production....of the legendary collectible The Blue Things...a lyrically vivid & jangle guitar classic in the garage sixties scene...

Blue Things leader Val Stecklein started this group on the early 60's and tried to cash in on his slight resembalence to Paul McCartney. Really he was the only decent looking guy in the pack. The Blue Things were dressed in their "BritishBeat Best" when they released their only Lp on RCA. The Blue Things are remembered as one of the best bands to come out of the Midwest in the 60's, although they were unheard of outside of the Midwest in their brief lifespan...though great enough that they hooked up with a major label...Great melodies, hooks galore, strong songs, it's all here. Like others, first impressions lumped them as somewhat like the Byrds, Beau Brummels or Rubber Soul era Beatles. Strong garage & folk rock sound mix, not thin but instead with a fat base from which to build their songs. Cliche as it is, it really is somewhat amazing that this band faded into obscurity with material this strong. Whereas the latter-day Brummels drifted toward rural music, the Blue Things embraced psychedelia, as seen in the post-LP efforts "The Orange Rooftop of Your Mind", the "Doctor Robert"- inspired "One Hour Cleaners", and "You Can Live in Our Tree", which sounds like Dylan after an acid trip.

The cover: is strong with no ring wear or issues, some light edge wear (and a filing sticker top left) but no seam splits, and no bends - does have some stamp marks on the back (fsc r-tv) whatever that means. Still a great cover with a little light previous use, vg+/ex at least that should work well in virtually any collection...the original colors are still bright...
The vinyl: thick vinyl has full glossy shine and has only a few very light marks (and I mean light). No hesitation in grading as a solid excellent - playback is superb- will not be disapointed...
