Description

THE YARDBIRDS - ROGER THE ENGINEER

A lovely condition copy of this 1966 Yardbirds psych gem with impressive audio quality throughout and equally impressive original outer and inner sleeves

Year/Label :  UK Columbia 1966

Label number :  MONO SX 6063

Matrix numbers :  XAX 3126 - 1  /  XAX 3127- 1

Stampers :  1  R0  /   1  RM

1966 UK 1st pressing with very good plus (VG+) - bordering on "excellent" - condition vinyl : each side has retained a jet black sheen and it is only with close inspection under a bright light that a few small wispy hairlines and faint paper scuff marks come into view - there is nothing feelable or obviously below the surface and the truly excellent MONO sound quality further supports this view;  excellent (EX) condition labels...unmarked except for some light spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label, and note the 1st press "K" and "T" tax codes embossed upon the side 2 label;  excellent (EX)) condition Garrod & Lofthouse front-side laminated & flipback outer sleeve with all art work, colours and text remaining in rich, vibrant condition with perfect definition still; each edge remains firm and 95% unscuffed with just a 1cm scuff mark on the bottom edge and a few non-obvious tiny scuff "dinks" on the top edge; the "nipped ends" variant spine is rigid with no scuffing at all,  the corners remain near perfectly defined right angles with absolute minimal rubbing on each, the lamination remains in great condition with no lifting, a couple of barely noticeable 1cm laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the spine and a 5cm vertical laminate crease towards the middle of the opening edge...each very trivial, and on the reverse side the flipbacks remain near perfect and there is just the hint of some very minor age discolouration towards the opening edge - impressive!; Excellent (EX) MONO audio quality with no no skips, repeats, jumps, sticks, clicks or distortion and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum and very occasional (during a couple of the quieter moments it's just detectable and during the side 1 run-off). Upon playback the only blemish (too strong a word) I noticed was a very light noise (no skip or repeat) that lasted a mere nanosecond during the entry to the final track on side 1 - upon really close examination under a bright light I could just identify the culprit as a tiny abrasion...you may not even notice this but I mention it all the same. In summary this copy remains a great listen with wonderful MONO sound quality and every track a great listen. Comes with original excellent condition EMI advertising inner with no splits or age discoluration, just some very minor creasing.
A landmark mid 60's psych LP from this highly influential band and a welcome addition to any serious vinyl collection.   POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £5 using Royal Mail 1st class signed for ;

for continental Europe £14 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £20 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
