Description

Based on the themes of fertile pre-Christian practices of pagan Britain, The Wicker Man did not follow the predictable formula of 1970's British horror movies. The equally non-formulaic music score was provided by talented songwriter Paul Giovanni, and his assistant Gary Carpenter. With only six weeks allotted to write, research and record the soundtrack, Giovanni drew on the rich traditions of Celtic music to present a brilliant collection of eclectic folk songs underpinned with aeons old verse. This 180g vinyl LP reissue has been prepared from the master tapes with a clarity and presence that gives Giovanni's haunting music the showcase it deserves. Contains exclusive material from the later, longer version of the film, including the song "Gently Johnny". Packaged in a lavish gatefold sleeve with extensive notes and stills from the movie, a luxurious package that pays homage to what is without doubt one of the most innovative and provocative British cult horror films ever produced.
