VINYL is VG+/EX
High gloss, thick vinyl has a few light scratches that mostly do not affect play.
A few occasional light tics heard. Sides 1 and 2 would rate visual VG+; sides 3 and 4 at EX. LP plays crystal clear with superb fidelity throughout. Later copies of TOMMY tended to be somewhat muddy in sound. This advance issue promo is the brightest and fullest dynamic range that you could ever find; every nuance, cross-fade and whispered breath is heard.
White Promo labels are superb all 4 sides -no spindle marks, fingerprints, wear, writing, soil or marks.

COVER is EX+
Vibrant, barely touched triple gatefold has only the lightest touch of wear. No bends, creases, writing or soil. Flat, crisp, even (inner and outer) spines and seams are solid all around. No splits or crushed edges like most of these tricky 3-pocket covers quickly get from handling. All edges straight, all corners sharp.
 
INSERT BOOKLET is NM.

Tommy will remain as Pete Townshend's and The Who's grand musical statement. He had toyed with the rock opera concept on two of the group's early albums but few were prepared for this incredible epic. It was all the more amazing because of how early it came in their career.

Conceptually, Tommy is one of the most creative albums in rock history. Pete Townshend combined opera, a touch of classical and rock into a brilliant mix. Over four decades after its release, it remains one of the most respected and critically acclaimed albums of the rock era.

The album is a sheer revelation when played as a whole. All of the songs inter-relate exceedingly well. Lyrically, the songs can seem a little obscure taken on their own, here and there, yet as a piece TOMMY is an amazingly coherent, compelling and visionary story. It is dark in places as it contains death, abuse, torture, rejection and loneliness. And let's not forget the deaf, dumb and blind boy who plays the pinball.
Very few groups and artists can say that they have established and popularized a new musical form. Through the rock opera Tommy, Pete Townshend and Who expanded the boundaries of the rock format. It remains a remarkable achievement and an essential listening experience for any fan of rock & roll.
