THE WHO - 'LIVE AT LEEDS'

This great sounding copy of arguably the best live album ever is a UK 1st pressing from May 1970 on the Polydor label: 2406 001

Matrix numbers: 2406001 A//1 & 2406001 B//1

Stamper codes: 11 13 & 11 2

Vinyl weight: 142g

Housed within a matt 'Graphreaks' printed gatefold cover with black lettering on the front panel and inside the gatefold.

Complete with its original poly-lined inner-sleeve.

This early copy is 100% complete with its 12 facsimilés of various memorabilia which comprise: a photo of the band from the My Generation photoshoot, handwritten lyrics to the "Listening to You" chorus from Tommy, typewritten lyrics to "My Generation" (with hand written notes), a receipt for smoke bombs, a rejection letter from EMI, and the early black "Maximum R&B" poster showing Pete Townshend windmilling his Rickenbacker & a copy of the contract for The Who to play at the Woodstock Festival.

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT +

A clean & unblemished set with a small number of light, well-aimed spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Extremely clean, deep-gloss playing surfaces which bear just one or two very light scuffs per side and a single 2mm scratch on track of side 2. Closer examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals just a few barely visible wispy paper hairlines but little else to suggest that this disc is 42 years old..

Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +

An outstanding sounding copy which has received minimal careful play on quality equipment. My single careful play-check at volume uncovered no trace of any groove/playwear distortion whatsoever on any track or in either channel. The only audible distraction which caught my ear were are few repeating soft ticks on the fade out 'Magic Bus' but the aforementioned scratch is not audible and there is much more to enjoy on this amazing album.

Cover: EXCELLENT

This earliest of cover types is fully intact and has aged attractively with no significant or major faults. The front panel is clean and unworn with some natural age-toning around the edges. The rear panel has a small number written along the upper edge but the staples are clean & unrusted.

The inside of the gatefold is clean and both unworn inner-pockets are fully intact.

Inserts: NEAR MINT

All are clean & undamaged with just slight handling wear to some of the smaller items. The poster remains factory-folded and unhung.

Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD +

Clean & flat with some age-toning & storage wrinkling but no writing, tears or seam splits.
