Description
The Velvet Underground & Nico LP - 1st UK press Banana This copy of the Velvet Underground & Nico was bought in the UK in 1968. The sleeve was made in the US - it's the second issue - and the record was pressed here. The presumption was that it was going to sell in such tiny quantities here that it wasn't worth printing a sleeve specially.
The banana, as you can see, remains intact although it has a tear at the top and a smaller one at the bottom.
The vinyl is Excellent, it's not been played much, was recently cleaned and shines like new. I've played it all the way through and apart from some light crackle at the beginning of side two it sounded great.
The matrix numbers are A1 and B1 - I tried to show this in the last pictures but it didn't quite work.
Like many of the records I'm selling today this came from the large collection of a busy man now aged 61. Due to the size of his collection many of the LPs were only played once or twice from new - some were never played and they were all properly looked after. His musical taste was towards the avant garde/free end of the jazz spectrum as well as being a fan of prog, psych and experimental music. I will be selling selected records from his collection over the next few years so please add me to your favourites list!
