Description

I  am selling this on behalf  of  an old friend. He bought this back in the 60s . I think I've finally worked  out  which version it  is. This  is the US 1967 press ( 2nd run?) on the Verve label.  The Deadwax runout reads V6 5008 SIDE 1 MGS-558 REV. and on side 2 V6-5008 SIDE 2 MGS-559 According to discogs the REV  was  added  after  the track 'Sunday Morning'  was  included  when the laquers  were  recut, so  I reckon REV stands  for  revised. Ive  tried  to show the runout in the photos.

This  version has  the banana  fully peeled The  sleeve  is in very good  condition, certainly no spilts or  tears. Theres  a slight dink in the top left  corner. Inside the gatefold there  is  very slight wear on the inner  crease. Apart  from this, there  are  a few  black flecks  on the front cover  and a small brown smudge on the rear. The original inner had split and was a bit shabby so I've replaced it witha new polylined one.

I audio tested this a couple of months ago. I played some but not all of it. There  were no issues with sound quality despite some light  scratches. If  I can get another listen I will leave any notes  here

UPDATE I fully played this again on my turntable (just fitted with a new stylus) on 7th Nov. 2023

Overall I would describe the audio quality as Good. The disc does have some light scratches which I've tried to show in some of the photos. It has a long mark on side 2 , see photo. Fortunately this markhas verylimited affect on the sound quality. I've cleaned it on my spin care device and given it a further clean before I played it a second time. Obviously if you are buying this, it would be worth using an advanced quality cleaning machine to eliminate the buzz, this record does have at times.

Heres a track listing with my, obviously, subjective view on the audio quality.

Side 1

Sunday Morning - crackle at start then 'Good+'

I'm Waiting for the Man - 'Good' sounds 'tinny' in places

Femme Fatale- light click for a few seconds then 'Good'

Venus In Furs- more than 'Good'

Run Run Run - more than 'Good'

All Tomorrow's Parties - Good+ sounds a bit tinny

Side 2

Heroin- "Good+' light crackle on  some of the quiet parts

There She goes Again - 'Very Good' just needs more bass imo!

I'll be your Mirror- 'Very Good'

The Black Angel's Death Song - 'Good+'

European Sun - 'Good+', perhaps a bit tinny

This  is a  very rare  opportunity to get an original copy of this album at  possibly a very good deal.  I'm starting with a low price  to generate  some interest. Good  luck if  you bid!

It will be  sent at least ' first class  signed  for. '

If  you have  any questions please feel free  to send  a message.

Important update- Ive now found out  that this  is  a 1968 US East Coast Pressing with  Emerson airbrushed  out  on the back. I realise that will disappoint  many of you but  there  it  is. I am keeping  my reserve in place
