The first player on top is hosting an excerpt from the song "Packing Up My Bags" and the player underneath is hosting an excerpt from the Motown Sound sounding "I'm Gonna Build Me A Man" both by the Tribulations.
I have looked all over the Internet and other record reference materials for any sign of this specific sweet record without success. THIS IS BECAUSE THIS MAY BE THE FIRST DOCUMENTED COPY OF THIS GREAT RECORD TO HIT THE INTERNET FOR SALE. After listening to this record and comparing it to other Northern Soul records going for over 10,000 dollars USD I personally consider this record to be musically one of the best songs of its genre and as well as one of the rarest, if not the rarest.
As of April 10, 2017,there were only two records documented as having been released on the San Bernardino soul music label called Shelly Records. This record constitutes the third record currently documented as having been released on the Shelly Records label. The soul group The Tribulations were produced by Shelly Garnett and did produce one other great record on the Imperial Records label. That record is called "Mama's Love" backed with "You Gave Me Up For Promises" but that relatively common record appears to HAVE BEEN RELEASED AFTER THIS UNDOCUMENTED, UNLISTED and FANTASTIC SWEET SOUL RPM 45 RECORD FIND on the very rare San Bernardino Shelly Records label.
The initial high note vocal wail that the lead singer begins the high energy song "Packin" Up My Bags" is simply indescribable. The rest of the song is infectious, high energy and does not disappoint. The combination of a high note lead vocalist and a deep heavy bass singer reminds one of the Temptations, a mainstay Motown singing group of the 1960s.
"I'm Gonna Build Me A Man" sounds like Motown in the 1960s big time. The Motown sound is so strong on this track that I decided to include the word Motown in the title of the description. The lead singer is the same as in the "Packin' Up My Bags" track, but "I'm Gonna Build Me A Man" is in a much more 1960s Temptations type mellow groove. I am trying to figure out the lyrics of this song. If anyone out there knows what this song is about, please send me an email.
