The Tragically Hip – Live From The Vault – Vol. 1: Metro Centre, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Feb. 2, 1995 captures the legendary Canadian band during the opening stages of their ambitious 1995 world tour in support of Day for Night. Recorded at Halifax's Metro Centre on February 2, 1995, this performance showcases The Tragically Hip at the height of their live powers, delivering an energetic and tightly played set from the opening notes of Grace, Too through the closing moments of Little Bones.
The Tragically Hip began professionally recording their live performances in 1995, preserving hundreds of concerts in their extensive vault. The Live From The Vault series highlights these historic soundboard recordings in their original form—capturing the raw energy, spontaneity and atmosphere of the band's live performances without studio embellishments or overdubs.
Highlights from this concert include the first performance of Opiated since 1991, the only 1995 performance of We'll Go Too, and an early version of Gord Downie's poem San Leonardo during the breakdown of New Orleans Is Sinking, which would later appear in his poetry collection Coke Machine Glow.
Pressed on two yellow vinyl LPs, this release is a fantastic addition for Tragically Hip fans and collectors of Canadian rock vinyl, preserving an outstanding performance from one of the band's most celebrated live eras.
