Artist: THE TOP NOTES / APRIL STEVENS AND NINO TEMPO Title: TWIST AND SHOUT / SWEET AND LOVELY Label: LONDON ATLANTIC Matrix: 450HLK 9580 Vinyl Condition: VERY GOOD (MULTIPLE SURFACE MARKS BUT PLAYS THROUGH FINE) Label Condition: VERY GOOD Year: 1962 Comments: NICE COPY OF THIS RARITY FROM THE TOP NOTES FROM 1962 'Twist and Shout' - This is the very first and therefore original recording of this famous song. The story goes that the composer, Bert Berns, was present during the recording which was produced by Phil Spector. Apparently Spector did not let Berns contribute to the session so Bert, who did not like this version, went ahead and recorded it with the Isley Brothers - the version that inspired the Beatles. The rest is, as they say, history.
