Description
Fine set of 1950s jazz recorded in Paris 1954. "The Swinging Fats Sadi Combo" features a collection of Belgian and French musicians: Fats Sadi (vibes), Roger Guerin (trumpet & tuba), Nat Peck (trombone), Bobby Jaspar (sax), Jean Aldegon (bass clarinet), Maurice Vandair (piano), Jean-Marie Ingrand (bass), Jean-Louis Viale (drums). This is '50s modern jazz, not hard bop, melodic, not way-out: Very listenable!
Blue Note Records catalog #LP-5061. Deep groove pressing with the original white & blue label. This is a 10" LP. This a monaural vinyl disk, not a CD!
We test-play all used LPs on a high-end Technics turntable fitted with a Shure M97XE cartridge, tracking at 1.5 grams.
Disk grading: Very Good. The disk has been cleaned. It has reasonably bright surfaces; no static; no serious scratches. Side two shows some scuffmarks. There is surface noise: Light crackling during the beginning of each side, and a few random and intermittent small pops throughout the disk. To my ears, this is a very listenable disk, as the surface noise is not obtrusive.
Sleeve grading: Very Good Plus. Minor scuffing, some ring wear, light edge wear. No splits. This disk was originally sold with no inner sleeve. A 12" plastic inner sleeve has been provided by the seller to protect the disk.
