VINYL is NM-
Gorgeous full gloss vinyl has very few faintest sleeve hairlines, viewed in hard bright light, that are completely inaudible. LP plays Like New throughout. Original issue "diamond rim" DEL-FI labels are immaculate.

COVER is VG+
Extremely clean, crisp cover has no wear to vivid front or snapping bright back. Lightly creased bottom corner-tips and h20 mark at upper right corner. No other creases, writing or marks. Grade is lowered due to professionally repaired partial split on top seam - neatly and tightly closed-up with single strip of clear, acid-free, archival document repair tape (professional, clean and nearly invisible).

*This specially formulated tape will never peel, flake, yellow or out-gas upon the cover. It is a professional repair that will preserve the edges of the cover through your lifetime and beyond.
.
...if you want a perfect cover, keep looking, but if you want the best vinyl you'll ever hear on this LP -and don't mind a very professionally repaired seam, this one will make you very, very happy indeed.

STUNNING CLEAR, BOLD SOUND on SUPER-CLEAN VINYL

.I've honestly never seen this LP (or any other original issue DEL-FI surf album)
with such clean vinyl!
.
As those of you who seek out the old surf classics are all too aware, most of these original issue LPs were party favorites that were roughly handled and quickly scratched up.
.
Recorded live at a Sigma Pi Fraternity Beer Bash at UCLA in 1963, this is the 1st LP to feature Surf Music legend, BRUCE JOHNSTON.

 -and hear how crystal clear the recording is (even processed through the mp3 player).
The CD available of this recording is notoriously muddy and flat; no fault of the original master,
which was MONO -and comes through amazingly on this very early original press.

The (excellent!) live recording is no less than a true time capsule document, capturing the real vibe and energy of what was going on in Southern California in the surf garage scene. I love these guys. I of course love "The Original Surfer Stomp", but there are plenty of other great tracks on this record, both surf/instro and vocal surf/garage.
.
A personal favorite is perhaps the most atypical ...the sad, melancholy "Gee, But I'm Lonesome" which reveals Bruce Johnston's penchant for sweet ballads already forming. Mostly though, the LP rocks like a mackin' 30 foot crusher at Bombora, with hellacious ripping guitar.

After this recording, Bruce produced some artists at Del-Fi, before leaving to form The Rip Chords with Terry Melcher (also recording as "Bruce and Terry"), and of course, eventually linking up with the Beach Boys.
