Description

Bit of an oddity this one...it features Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton of The Jam being interviewed on Side A; and J.J. Burnel of The Stranglers being interviewed on Side B. 480 copies were allegedly pressed, purportedly for use in Hospital Radio Stations. I can't tell you much more about it other than that it's quite old. I don't think it contains any music so please be aware that it is spoken word only. Note that "The Stranglers" is printed on the front cover - see photos. Condition of the vinyl is excellent - nice and shiny with very few marks that are very light. Information insert is intact with just light creasing. The white cover is slightly grubby and discoloured with age though.

  • I aim to provide an honest and accurate description but please note that I can only grade visually; I do not have the facilities to play vinyl. However, in my experience, a visual grade should be closely reflected by a play grade.
  • I offer a full, no-questions-asked, money-back guarantee on all items I sell. If you buy and aren't satisfied with the item for any reason I will refund your money when I receive the item back in the condition in which it was posted by me to the buyer.
  • If you have any questions about this item, just ask. I try to be helpful. Thank you.

ITEMS FOR DELIVERY IN THE UK WILL ONLY BE SENT BY FIRST CLASS SIGNED-FOR MAIL.

Postage and packing costs for one LP are as follows (but discounts are available for multiple purchases). All items are sent properly and strongly packaged with a plastic sleeve and a corrugated inner for extra protection and with the disc outside the sleeve to prevent spine splitting.

UK First Class ‘Signed For’ = £4.00

‘Signed For’ is to protect YOU as a buyer and ME as a seller so I can confirm whether the record has arrived and so you can track its progress.

Europe by Airmail = £4.50 (BUT SEE BELOW!)

Rest of the World by Airmail = £7.00 (BUT SEE BELOW!)
(e.g. USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or anywhere that is NOT UK or Europe)

I reserve the right to insist that an item is posted by ‘International Signed For’ to Europe or Rest of World and paid for by the buyer accordingly. It costs an extra £4.95 IN ADDITION to standard airmail costs.

It is likely to apply if, for example, the item has sold for a sum above £25, or the buyer has a low or dubious feedback score, or is in a country which has, in my experience and that of others I know, a poor record of safe postal delivery (e.g. Italy, Brazil, Russia to name but a few. That is not an exhaustive list.).

It may apply in other circumstances too and solely at my discretion. It is to protect us both! IF YOU DON’T ACCEPT OR AGREE TO THIS THEN PLEASE DO NOT BID!

I do not profit from postage costs. Postage charges may be confirmed on www.royalmail.com

IF YOU WANT FEEDBACK LEFT FOR YOU THEN PLEASE HAVE THE COURTESY TO LEAVE IT FOR ME FIRST.

By bidding on this item you are taken to have read and agreed to all of the above and to any other fair conditions that I may add to this listing before it ends. Thank you!

I finally listened to this last night. The Jam interview dates from 1979 or 1980; I'm guessing definitely 1980 for The Stranglers because of the references to them playing in Nice.

THE JAM INTERVIEW
Weller is stated to be 21 and The Jam are touring the Setting Sons album. In fact, the interview was recorded the night after the Birmingham gig of that tour so some of you should be able to date it exactly...Weller and Foxton discuss how the tour's going, influences (soul, punk and 60s music etc.), songwriting, Little Boy Soldiers, how they didn't jump on the punk new wave bandwagon (as the interviewer suggests) but were rather "pushed on" to it by the media. Weller says that a particular style of shoe does not necessarily make him a Mod etc. etc. This is an a interview in good sound quality. I don't know who the interviewer is but he seems not to be such a big Jam fan; needles to say, Weller doesn't always give him an easy ride! A recording of some historical interest I'd say.

J.J. BURNEL INTERVIEW
Burnel talks about the riot in Nice, France, when the band toured there, what happened etc. Among other things he also talks about the band having about £100,000 worth of their gear stolen in the U.S. while touring there etc.

I hope the above information is useful. Cheers!
