Description

An original 1st press in stereo on UK Capitol from Jan'69. Matrix A6/A6. Stampers 1P/1M - making it one of the earliest copies to roll of the press. Note the labels mention 'Sold In The UK' - this has to be present in order to truly qualify for 1st press. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo cover with flipbacks. 
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In superb condition and has clearly been carefully looked after down the years. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of slightest marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Not sure I've ever witnessed a copy at this level...it is truly remarkable. A lot of the audio on this title is percussive very low-key in hushed tones..i.e. easily ruined even by reasonably light use. This copy is playing just totally clean right from the outset - extremely unusual. I guess its a combination of the early stampers and fantastic preservation. Either way if you're someone with this title on the shopping list - I would take a very serious look at this copy. For audio alone - it is as good a is humanly possible to find. At worst a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side. A level it would be very hard to match let alone better. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex/Ex-) An absolute stunner...how many original '68 copies are gonna have a clean back 50+ years later? Errrr...not many I can assure you. This example has a lovely clean and shiny front with just one solitary thumbnail. The rear is practically devoid of ageing which is extremely unusual. Only slightest issue is a surface level scratch running across the rear horizontally at the bands head height. It is pretty minor. A perfectly clean and smooth back - it has never been anywhere near damp that's for sure. Flipbacks are perfectly intact and secure. Four pointy corners. No edge wear and firm openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
