The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

The Smiths - 'Barbarism Begins At Home' 2 Track French Promo 12" - 1985

This incredibly rare promotional 12" was issued on the 'Virgin' label to radio stations in France in very low numbers to coincide with the release of the 'Meat Is Murder' LP. Although very rarely seen at all for sale, it is well-known in the collecting community and appeared as high as Number 31 in the 2005 Smiths 'Top 100 Rarities' article in 'Record Collector' magazine; such is the appeal of this promotional curiosity. The record has each of the 3'48'' and 6'50'' edits of 'Barbarism Begins At Home', one on each side, and terrific Virgin/Rough Trade labels (see photo). It has been preserved in superb condition (see below) and comes with the original white outer sleeve in which it would have been sent out. This sleeve has a Virgin record company sticker attached, as well as, interestingly, several small radio station stickers (one of which bears the date 15th March 1985) as well as the title/band written in blue marker pen which adds to the character of this collectable item. A remarkable original 1980s Smiths collectable, another of which may not be seen for sale for some time.The vinyl and labels are in near mint condition, being highly glossy with just the lightest of superficial 'hairline' surface marks in a few places which can only be seen if the record is held to the light, and appears to have only been played once or twice. The record lies perfectly flat and has been tested for playback, which it does perfectly with no background noise. The original outer sleeve is plain white with the aforementioned stickers and radio station writing (see above) and is in excellent condition with no splits or damage. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
