Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy with your purchase.
The Smiths - 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' 7" - 1987
Catalogue No. 90299 - Virgin/Rough Trade Records
This release is the original 1987 issue of the monumental track 'There Is A Light That Never Goes Out' in France; bafflingly the only country in which this was released as a single first time around. Its status has become almost legendary amongst Smiths collectors, in part due to the regard for the track itself and in part due to the terrific 'boy/lollipop' artwork which had famously been used on earlier tour posters but nowhere else as sleeve artwork. It is no exaggeration to say that this is difficult to obtain, and this rare and genuine release is in great collectable condition; the only flaw being a circular ring where the sleeve surface has broken due to a badly-done promo stamp (see below). Note that the 'wrinkling' seen in the photos is not on the sleeve but a thin 'inner' polythene protective sleeve. A very rare chance to own this superb item. The vinyl and labels are in near mint condition, with only the lightest of surface marks in a couple of places on the glossy vinyl. It is in the large centre-hole 'jukebox' format as issued. The silver injection moulded labels are free from any marks or scratches. The outer sleeve is in strong excellent condition with the exception of the circular ring of surface damage on front and back as mentioned above. These appear to have occured as a result of the circular promo stamp with the indented lettering which was applied to both the top left of the front and top right of the reverse of the sleeve. Subsequently the surface has become broken in a few places surrounding this lettering as shown in the close-up scans; there is also some mild 'scoring' which can be seen if the sleeve is held to the light where it appears someone may have tried to obscure this lettering. The circular mark is visible but does not dominate the sleeve appearance, and the circle on the reverse is barely visible. Other than these regions, there are no marks on the sleeve and no significant creases anywhere; there is just very mild wear to the corners and no seam splits or other damage. Please see the accompanying photos; note that the Ebay ID lettering is just on the pictures and not the item itself.
All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is free in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, but please consider paying the 1.00 surcharge for tracked postage since there is, of course, nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. I always take great care to package items well.See my other auctions for related rare items here. If multiple auctions are won at the same time, I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remainder myself. This is the case wherever you live.
