Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
The Smiths - 'Shoplifters' German 'Green Marbled Vinyl' 12'' - 1987
Catalogue No. LIEP 3.00009 - Line Records
This is an auction for an original German 'marbled vinyl' pressing from 1987 of the classic Smiths single 'Shoplifters Of The World Unite'. It was released on Line Records, which was the official label in Germany at the time and is not a more recent bootleg pressing. The few official multicoloured 'marbled' vinyl pressings which exist all originated in Germany and have a special place in Smiths collections owing to the striking appearance of the vinyl. Consequently, these records seem to appear less and less frquently on the market these days as they become progressively snapped up by collectors. The vinyl and labels are in excellent condition, and it looks to have seen very little play. There are only very light surface marks which can be seen if the record is held to the light, and they do not detract from the impressive appearance of the marbled vinyl. The multicoloured vinyl retains its glossy 'sheen'. The sleeve is in excellent minus condition, there being no writing on, or damage to, the sleeve anywhere, just some mild to moderate creasing towards the corners. The faces are glossy and completely clean, and the spine is strong and sharp with minor wear to the corners only. Please see the accompanying photos; note that the yellow ID lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
