Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy with your purchase.
The Smiths - 'Still Ill / You've Got Everything Now' Promo 7" - 1984
Catalogue No. R61DJ - Rough Trade Records
This pressing of 'Still Ill' was released as a promotional-only 7" in very limited numbers to radio stations in 1984 just before the release of The Smiths' debut album. 'Still Ill' was not released as a single in its own right in the UK, this was done only in Germany in 12" form (see my other auction), and this is therefore the only place where the track can be found on a 7" single on the Rough Trade label. The labels were designed very nicely, with large "A" lettering in the style of old promotional 7"s and white labels with black lettering. This copy is particularly rare in that it comes in its original black die-cut outer sleeve complete with a gold and black 'Scott Piering' promotional sticker in the top left corner. I have rarely ever seen another copy for sale with this promotional sticker on the sleeve, and it is likely that the majority were sent out without them. There was, of course, a much more recent Rhino re-issue version of this promotional 7" in 2008; but the labels of the re-issue version were different (see photo comparing the labels) with different run-out matrix numbers and released instead in a white die-cut outer sleeve. While the re-issue version did not carry the 'Rough Trade' logo, this original pressing has the distinctive 'block' form of the Rough Trade logo, in black, which had just come into use in 1984. It is getting very difficult to find copies in collectable condition of this 1984 original promotional 7", and much rarer still to find a copy with the stickered sleeve. Don't miss this opportunity to obtain this in superb condition (see below). The vinyl and labels are in at least strong excellent condition, and are actually more like near mint with no discernable marks on the glossy vinyl or the labels; the record appearing to be unplayed. The thin die-cut black outer sleeve is in strong excellent condition, with no rips or tears and no creases. There are just the mildest signs of 'rubbing' in a few places, and the rare sticker is intact and unmarked. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is 2.60 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 70p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer (see below). I always take great care to package items well with strong mailing materials.See my other auctions for related rare items here. If multiple auctions are won at the same time (within a week), I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remainder myself. This is the case wherever you live. If you are planning to bid, but cannot be around at the end of the auction, I have found this free site to be useful; note that I am not affiliated with the site in any way!
