The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.

When Rough Trade decided to re-press this Smiths LP in 1987, they made several changes in comparison to the 1984 original. Firstly the LP was no longer issued in a gatefold sleeve and, secondly, the sleeve artwork was markedly altered to show only a close-up of the face of the Jean Cocteau fan which had apparently been taken from a photo in a French magazine. The blue border, which characterised the sleeve of the original, was completely omitted, thereby producing a very different effect. Although this is strictly a re-release, it is nonetheless an original 1980s Rough Trade pressing and, as such, has significant collectable appeal. Perhaps strangely, there have appeared to have been far fewer copies of this 1987 version offered for sale in recent times in comparison to the original pressing making it much harder to get hold of; this suggesting that the number of copies pressed in the vinyl format in 1987 was probably a lot lower than in 1984. This copy is in outstanding condition (see below), and would make a nice addition to any Smiths collection.The vinyl and labels are in near mint condition, showing no signs of having been played and having only the very lightest of 'hairline' superficial surface marks in a couple of places which only become visible if the record is held to the light. The vinyl retains its original 'sheen' and looks terrific. The outer sleeve is, remarkably, also in near mint condition, with no apparent creases or signs of wear; even the corners and edges are sharp and unworn. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
