Description

Welcome to a gem of an auction.  Up for sale is what I think to be is an original issue of the Smashing Pumkins Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness album.  It is complete, with the outer gatefold cover, the booklet, and 3 records in the original generic inner sleeves.
This is the first record I am selling (I am very experienced at buying records, though!).  Please understand I am probably missing something, please let me know so I can correct/update my auction.
I also don't really "collect" records and I am not positive what release this record is.  I tried photographing stamper markers so you can self-verify it is the pressing you are looking for.
I AM positive I am the first owner of this record, I bought it new back in the 1990s.  I purchased it in Homewood Illinois, but I can't recall the name of the record store.  I recall seeing it and thinking "i kinda like these guys" and grabbed it.  I did play it, but not much,  I'd guess 2-3 times on a good record player.  It has sat in my closet the whole time.  I am selling it now because I want records to PLAY them, not collect them.  If I choose to play it in the future, i'll find some cheap re-release, leaving the vintage collectibe records to those who really care and want that.  You!
Given i know the history of the record but don't know the collector's world's expectations, PLEASE ASK.  I want whoever ends up with this to be absolutley happy with it, so ask questions first!
I took close-ups of the corners and back spine - it seems to be things you look for.  there are a few small creases here and there, I ran out of photo space to hilight each of the small imperfections, but you can see them in the main photos, just zoom a lot and review carefully.
when looking at the back cover, observe a scratch in the lower left quadrant - that is a real scratch, not reflection.
The booklet front cover has a darkening on the upper left corner, see close-up.  The back has a similar darkening, but it is hard to see.  Oddly, I didn't see it on the inner pages, definitely not dark like the outer cover.
Here's the part I focus on when buying records: scratches.  Notice there is a mark below the bottom lip of the side marked "twilight" - that is NOT a hair, that is a very light scratch.  I was going to play-test it, but the center flash-plastic would have to be cleaned out, so I'm leaving it.  ...i must not have played this side much, maybe not at all...  In any case, the scrape looks so light I couldn't find it without the right light, and it appears as if it would not have any impact on the sound.  If the final buyer wants me to clean the flash and verify it is silent, we can do that.  We'll communicate and take it from there.  Though I ebay for fun, something this price gets serious and I definitely want the purchaser to have fun.
Shipping price is higher because I am not putting it in a mailer and handing it to the post office.  I'll do that for lesser valubable things, but with this one I am putting it in two record mailers - one will have the records in generic sleeves and covers, the other mailer will have the cover, original inner sleeves, and booklet.  Both mailers are getting put in a 15x20x11 box, and I'm mailing that oversized and protected box.
I intend to only ship to the continental United States.  I just don't want to get involved with international shipping.
Local pickup is available, i'd go to a place the police department in Schererville Indiana has designated an online purchase exchange place.  Please "contact seller" and make arrangements through ebay.  I will use & follow all ebay protocals.
Most of all:  have fun!
