The Shirelles Sing to Trumpets and Strings. Scepter Records(LP-502). 1961. Mono.
The second Shirelles album release (after Tonight's the Night), Sing to Trumpets And Strings continued the group's distinctive sound, with Mama Said and What a Sweet Thing That Was becoming modest chart hits. Whilst the title might imply the album was a collection of standards, there was plenty of new material coming from the in-house writing team at Scepter, even if three of the tracks would be covered by other artists on the roster.
