Among the existing bootleg issues of Pink Floyd 1967 - 1971 recordings this unofficial release is considered to be one of the most best selling ones due to its high fidelity and unique material in the form of unreleased Pink Floyd’s recordings not available on albums released in the US. The album was created by the unanimous label known as "Trixie Records" by a bootlegger known as "Richard", and to avoid detection by authorities, he used an early name of Pink Floyd, "The Screaming Abdabs" on the record label. The title of the album “The Dark Side Of The Moo” parodies “The Dark Side Of The Moon”, Pink Floyd’s most commercially successful album, and the front cover resembles “Atom Heart Mother, which featured a cow. Unlike the other bootlegs, the full color cover of this factory sealed copy could be considered deluxe. It’s hard to remember any other bootleg issue where the attention was even paid to the hype sticker. Song title hype sticker measuring 2.5” x 4” mentions “PINK FLOYD” and the album’s title. Although some of the tracks are now more widely available than when the bootleg was first issued, some, such as "Point Me at the Sky", have still not been released on a regular album ("Point Me at the Sky" was, however, issued as part of the bonus "Early Singles" disc on the Shine On box set in 1992).
