Description
The Royal Ballet Gala Performances
This is one of the old record sets we have come across in a very large collection. This particular collection contains two records, complete with a 22 page booklet and an insert naming all of the songs (insert has a crease and very small tear-not sure if you can see in the picture). The booklet has some beautiful old pictures of Nadia Nerina, David Blair, Margot Fonteyn, Michael Somes, Svetlana Beriosova, Beryl Grey, Alexis Rassine, and even a Picasso drawing of the young Ernest Ansermet. There is a short background and story of each of the performances: The Nutcracker Suite, La Boutique Fantasque, Coppelia, Giselle, Swan Lake, Carnaval, Sleeping Beauty, and Les Sylphides.
The set has been opened and played. While I can not imagine any problems with either record, I can not say this for certain, since I have not personally listened to each. I can tell you that I see a couple of marks on sides 1 and 4, (same record). I do not know if these are anything serious, or perhaps with a little cleaning could disappear.
I also have two other sets from RCA Victor Living Stereo I will be listing, made in the same format with wonderful booklets and great pictures. Each is made to slip into a sleeve and looks like the binding from a book, as you can see in the photo below.
This auction is for ONLY The Royal Ballet set.
Special Notes:
This is just one of many items I am selling on EBAY for my mother-in-law. These pieces have been in her possession for many years, some even belonged to her mother or mother-in-law. Many of the pieces look like the day they were bought and many have been used, not just stored on a shelf. I will describe each piece to the best of my ability, but please do not hesitate to e-mail me with any questions you may have. To the best of my knowledge the items are original, but I am not an expert.
Please note it is not my intention to make money on the shipping charges, but since we are no longer able to quote the charge upon purchase, I am quoting a flat rate to avoid packaging items prior to the sale. If, after your purchase and upon careful packaging it is determined the shipping will be less than I have listed, the difference will be returned with the item. I do not charge a handling fee, and if the shipping charge works out to be more than my quote, it is my loss.
E-mail communication is expected within 48 hours of winning bid, and payment required in 10 days, or item will be relisted and appropriate feedback will be left on EBAY. Personal checks are subject to a holding period.
Please do not bid unless you are planning to pay for the item.
