Description

THE ROLLING STONES - 'THE ROLLING STONES'
This early issue of their 1964 debut album is on the deep-groove unboxed red Decca label: LK.4605

Both labels are of the earliest type with 'Hurran, Calvert' credited for 'Honest I Do' & 'Mona' listed as track 4 on side 1

Matrix numbers: XARL-6271-2A & XARL-6272-3A

N.B. This pressing contains the long/regular version of the song 'Tell Me'

Stamper codes: 1/BM & 1/BU

Disc weight: 152g

Housed in the earliest cover for this release which contained the following errors on the rear tracklisting:

  • The 4th song is listed as “Mona” (changed later to 'I Need You Baby')
  • The songwriting credit for 'Honest I Do' is 'Hurran, Calvert' (changed later to 'Reed')
  • The 'Dozier' writing crediting for 'Can I Get A Witness' was wrongly spelt as 'Bozier'
  • The word ' If ' is omitted from the 'You Can Make It If You Try' title

  • CONDITION

    Disc

    Labels: EXCELLENT

Both are clean & bright with a moderate collection of light spindle marks around each centre hole

    Both Visual: EXCELLENT

Pristine deep-gloss playing surfaces which bear no noticeable wear in strong daylight. Closer inspection beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp reveals a tiny 3mm scratch on track 1 of side 2 (which I can just feel beneath my fingertips) but there is little else to fault.

    Sound Quality: EXCELLENT -

This disc has received moderate careful play and is free form any groove/playwear distortion. My playcheck detected a trace of background on 'Honest I Do' And 'Tell Me' but more significantly a single groove jump and two clicks on 'I'm A King Bee' due to the aforementioned scratch. There are no further audible faults or distractions on this respectable early copy.

    Cover: GOOD

As you can see this early cover is quite age worn - especially on the rear panel. However, it is fully intact and free from any writing or seam splits.

    Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT -

General light storage wrinkling & and two stains on the reverse
