Description

An original 1st press of SG on the Rolling Stone label. Matrix 1U/3U - Cannot find any record of an earlier matrix. In fact, you'll struggle to find hardly any copy with 1U cut at all! The vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue uncensored cover. The story goes that when some of the celebrities, or their estates, got wind of this cover they demanded a redaction of some well known faces. The most notable probably being MM's estate - her image is clearly visible, here, but you won't see it on later copies. Also included is the original inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. We also have a thick-paper lyric sheet. This will not have been available with the UK 1st press - but it's a nice little added bonus.
Vinyl (Ex) In lovely condition and has only seen light use. I can make out a couple of very light marks both sides - nothing remotely troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an, at least, EXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. You can really hear that you're close to those original masters. A very detailed and raw rendition - precisely what you're looking for on this title. A very nice clean player throughout - most copies do not deliver this consistent level of clean playback. Expect a few crackles in a couple of isolated spots per side [e.g. opening moments of 'Miss You']. But in reality - very little at all... just clean raw guitars [even into the low-key numbers]. Possibly the high point for the Stones in the later half of the seventies. Highly recommended. The title track 'SGs' is truly awesome...crank it to the max and listen to that slide guitar!!!
Cover (Ex/Ex+) A beautifully preserved original uncensored version - not many surface looking quite this nice. Front and rear are borderline immaculate. It is very unusual to find that die-cut front looking this clean and unworn[a beaut!]. Edge wear is very limited indeed and the openings still sharp. The spine is superb - very unusual to have it preserved like this [100% intact]. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. It would be very hard to better this specimen without finding a sealed copy.
Inner (Ex) From the surfaces it looks great. NO splits!!
Lyric Sheet (Ex-) Very lightest ageing. Very nice really.
