1st Press UK Stereo Unboxed Decca 1W/2W.
Packed full of hits, this 1969 studio album continues to be one of the most popular Rolling Stones' offerings to this day. From the opening bars of 'Gimme Shelter', through country drenched classics like 'Love In Vain' and 'Let It Bleed', to the epic 'You Can't always Get What You Want', it is clear to see why this album has become a must have for Stone's fans and indeed rock music fans alike.
VINYL: This sought-after version of the album is one of the very first editions of the stereo press. The vinyl itself has a number of surface marks. Most of them are merely superficial age related hairline that do not affect play. However, there are a few small scratches that cause the record to briefly skip. There are approximately six small skips on side one and one brief skip at the start of side two. This is such a shame because the rest of the time the album sounds great. Although they are noticeable, if you listen out for them, they are very brief and do not spoil the overall sound quality and enjoyment of the record.
LABEL: The iconic blue unboxed Decca stereo labels are free from any unwanted marks and writing. The spindle holes look a bit grubby but apart from that they are in very decent condition for their age.
SLEEVE: At some point the original sleeve has been swapped for a later version that does not have the indicator hole on the back. This is also the case with the inner sleeve. Having said that, the version that is on offer here is in excellent condition. The laminate front cover looks stunning and the spine is in superb condition. There is very slight evidence of foxing on the back and two of the tracks have been ticked (see picture), but overall, this is a lovely looking sleeve considering the age.
Sadly, the poster was lost at some point back in the day.
This record has been play tested and honestly described. Despite the issues with this copy, it still sounds and looks great on the whole. Not one for the audiophiles but a great opportunity to own a genuine first press of this outstanding, much sought-after vinyl.
