Description
An original Mono 1st press of Let It Bleed on the Decca label from 1969. Matrix 1A/1A. Stampers 1A/1UI. The labels are consistent with very 1st press and this is reinforced by the fact that the inner sleeve still shows the 'London Bach Choir' credit [which was redacted a few months later]. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Upton printed cover with peep hole and hype sticker. The inner sleeve is present and was a bespoke design for LIB in red for mono. No poster unfortunately. And remember...THIS RECORD SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD!
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Wowzers a mono Let It bleed..and it looks really clean. It has definitely only seen light use...how often is that the case? Under close inspection we can only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing vaguely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Yes, you read that correctly....this is no throw away Ex+...this is proper grading with NO HYPE. Mono is THE most sought after format to hear LIB in because it quite frankly delivers in every way. Bags of detail and superb transparency...it is the ultimate listen for this album -period! Thankfully this copy is very low-mileage and it means all that superb mono laid down in 1969 is still there for you to access today in 2018. Even the quiet passages play really clean. Interference is minimal. All we could detect was a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments - it really is that good. This is the best copy we've auditioned...I think we can safely say it is easily the best.
Cover (Vg+) In great shape and Delia's cake on the front has never looked better! Nice shiny front without the usual creasing. Yes, there's a bit of ageing at the extremities, but nothing overtly obvious. The rear is usually the difficult area and this copy delivers more than most that surface. Bit of light ageing, some surface wear in places, and a couple of stains in top-right sector. Edge wear is reasonably light and all the text on the spine is intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and remains a very very fine example.
Inner (Ex+) No ageing. None of the usual heavy creasing. No splits...What's not to like about that?
