An original 1st press of BIG HITS on the UK Decca label. Matrix 2A/4A. Please note the labels exhibit the Decca deep groove and this is indicative of 1st issue. The vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue Mono gatefold cover with the booklet internal pages attached [per 1st issue]. Note the format is mentioned on the spine - this is not a later issue with the peephole on the rear. Occasionally on the 1st issues you get lucky and bag an internal front panel page which is laminated. This is one of those copies! Also included is the original Decca poly-lined inner sleeve. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has seen reasonably light use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks per side, and some very superficial scuffing. I've done a thorough inspection of these marks - nothing seems to be heavy or likely to impinge on the audio all that much [playback confirms this]. But I need to be clear about this in case you are a buyer who expects really clean surfaces. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of minor deviations in the odd track. Bear in mind that many of these original hits Lps will have been played to death. A decent playing copy is less easy to find these days. Expect a bit of static background in a couple of those low-key tricky numbers..."Tears Go By / Lady Jane"... etc. Nothing invasive - they just won't play quite as clean as the rest of the LP. These tracks still play better than you typically find. A lovely original example overall.
Cover (Ex) A bit of a beauty - occasionally they do surface. First thing to mention - that front panel is a total marvel. Very rarely do they surface so well preserved with total rigidity and pointy corners! Usually they bend and crease - but not here. Very nice and shiny without discolouration in the images. The rear is equally good with just one minor crease [surface level] running vertically up from the bottom middle [clear on the pics]. The internal is in remarkable condition with very little signs of use. That internal left image is pristine! Look at the internal spine...almost perfect. The photo booklet often detaches, but this example is totally intact and in place. All pages are present and have not been heavily thumbed. Edge wear is quite light for this title. Just a bit observable on the front at the bottom in the middle. The spine is 100% intact - very impressive. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
