Description

An original 1st press of Beggars Banquet on the UK Decca label. Matrix 1K/1K - very 1st cut no earlier exists. Stampers 1-CG/1-UM. Please note the speed '33' is not mentioned on either label - this indicative of 1st issue. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original stereo gatefold cover which mentions 'patents pending'. These covers are believed to be the very 1st variant for BB way back in November 1968. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In absolutely stunning condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of light marks either side - nothing heavy or likely to cause significant issue. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are practically silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Even the acoustic tracks play super-clean and it really is a very impressive rendition. Interference is borderline non-existent. All we could detect were a few crackles in a couple of isolated moments. And then one pop in the final six seconds of 'jig-saw' [i.e. right at the end of side 1]. In fact, the audio is already fading out before you get the pop...so if you were going to have one pop anywhere....that's the place to have it! A beautiful player by any standard and it would be hard to improve upon. Please note 'Simon' written on one of the labels.
Cover (Ex) In lovely condition and has clearly been looked after down the years. That iconic cover is still nice and white and seems to have avoided the ageing process. Front and back are nice and clean with only one tiny indentation on the front and a couple on the rear - pretty much nothing else. The interior is in great shape too - barely any issue at all. Edge wear is very light for this title, and there's little on the spine too. Please bear in mind that whilst the text is all still readable on the spine there is the usual fold running down the centre. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity and lies totally flat. A terrific example.
