Description

An original 1st stereo press of Aftermath on the Decca label from 1966. Matrix 2W/1W - very 1st cut. Stampers 1A/1I - placing it amongst the first few thousand copies ever pressed. Also, please note the labels with LARGE FONT are the very 1st variation possible, and still exhibit the Decca deep-groove as you would expect. Also, bear in mind that the stereo format is yet to overtake mono in 1966 and so mono 1st press is much easier to track down. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Robert Stace printed 'stereo' cover with pinched spine. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks either side, and a couple of bag-rash superficial trails - but absolutely nothing that will feature in the audio [guaranteed]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. An absolutely stonkingly good rendition and up there with the best I've ever auditioned [be that mono or stereo]. Aftermath is a very fussy record and I tend to find that I'm often left a little disappointed with many copies that surface. But this copy delivers again and again in all the right areas. Clear and clean audio delivered without annoying interference. All I could detect re interference were a few light crackles in a coupe of isolated moments. This is about as good as you could possibly hope to find and will not surface, like this, very often....
Cover (Ex-) A beautiful example and so so difficult to find even looking half this good. Lovely shiny front without the usual creasing, or any laminate lift. The rear has escaped the worst of the ageing process, but do expect a bit at the extremities and a touch of light handling in places. Edge wear is very slight for this title. The spine is pretty much totally intact. And overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. What an example!
Inner (Vg+) No splits. But foxing on the rear.
