During spring break, they followed the tradition of previous Andover bands and recorded an album.  They chose Continental Recording Studios in Framingham, MA on a recommendation from the Ha' Pennies, who had recorded their album there the previous year.  For $1000, they had the studio to themselves for a week and received 500 copies of the resulting LP.  When the record was released, they sold for $3.00 apiece - a far cry from the price tag affixed to that album these days.

Our first album, "Calm Before . . .", issued in 1967, is one of the most sought-after vinyl collectibles of the garage-rock era.

 I am not a frequent LP seller so I do not use any standard rating system but I do collect and play my own albums so I do play test.  
This is so rare that perhaps some of the noise on the album can be forgiven--there are so few copies available. The LP is a good listen and thoroughly enjoyable. The band deserves their place in garage rock history. They do a cover of a LOVE song and some other songs has a bit of that sound, also i hear some early Kinks in there. Lots of fun on this one. Great vocals, harmonica and fuzz-tone guitar.
LP vinyl sound quality: I heard consistent noise throughout the album with pops and clicks, mostly a problem on softer songs and quite noticeable between tracks, but the real garagy songs one is not so aware of the noise simply because the sound level is fuller. The vocal quality is still strong and not distorted from overplay. It is just that the album has scuffs and light scratches that comes through during play. I went track by track to take notes but decided overall there is the clicking popping.  There may have been on slight jump on a song but I went back to play again and all in the room couldn't really agree on that. Visually the vinyl shows some light scratches across a few tracks, marring and scuffing, nothing horribly deep but enough that it will be heard. There is some visible chatter marks on side two at the last track but it didn't seem to affect play any different than the whole album itself. turn it up and enjoy it.
Cover Sleeve: Front cover overall is quite nice. no ring wear really visible. There is a name written in ballpoint ink on the top right corner-visible in photograph. It has rubbed corners and split seams on top and bottom, split about halfway through, and rough edges--one photo is on edge so you can see the back bottom has some paper wear probably where it was taped at one time , no water damage nor molding the cover is probably faded and slightly yellowed with age--but I have no way to know what the intensity of the color was at time of issue spine is in good condition but the name Remnant records at the bottom is a bit worn to read easily.
