Description
Here is an incredible find. I thought that I had seen every surfing LP in my years of record collecting, but I never saw this one before. It is an LP by The Rhythm Rockers called "Soul Surfin" on Challenge Records CH 617 from back in 1963! The "Soul" part of the title is a little misleading since the songs on here have little or nothing to do with "soul!"
The LP consists of surfing instrumentals, including some self-penned instrumentals and two that were Duane Eddy hits in their own style. There's even a cut on here called "Wipeout," but is not the "Wipeout" that we all know and love!
Titles include: Surfin' At The Mazatlan, Rendezvous Stomp, Ramrod, Nine Toes, Moondawg, Wipeout // Breakfast At Tressels, Moovin' 'N' Groovin', Get It On, Caravan, The Breeze And I, You Can't Sit Down
The REALLY good news it that this LP is in LIKE-NEW condition. The Vinyl sounds like someone bought this, taped it, and never played it again; it's THAT good! There is total silence in the lead-in grooves and in the grooves between cuts. In addition the band is great and the sound here is loud and dynamic! Awesome sound!
Finally, the cover is still in its original shrink wrap from 59 years ago!!!! So, the vinyl and the cover are in Mint condition.
A 59 year old surfin' LP in Mint condition!
Shipping/ Handling will be $4.99 Media Mail within the U.S.
