Description

This is an elite, archival piece for serious collectors of 1960s pop-rock, blue-eyed soul, and rare radio promo vinyl. While the standard commercial retail jackets bore the stereo catalog number SD-8190, this specific copy houses the highly elusive, promotional-only monaural radio station record inside. This is authenticated by the official "White Label" layout bearing the true internal mono master allocation numbers (A-12814-A and A-12815-A) hand-etched directly into the runout grooves.
Unlike common commercial stereo pressings, this genuine mono radio promo mix delivers a focused, incredibly punchy, and aggressive audio landscape. The driving rhythm sections, swirling Hammond organ leads, and powerful vocals are balanced perfectly to cut through vintage AM radio frequencies, providing an unmatched analog listening experience.
Released in mid-1968, Time Peace: The Rascals' Greatest Hits stands as a monumental success in the band's career. The compilation masterfully chronicles their rapid evolution from a high-energy Greenwich Village rhythm-and-blues cover band (originally known as The Young Rascals) into a sophisticated, self-contained studio force that integrated soul, psych-pop, and socially conscious themes. The record was an immediate commercial juggernaut, capturing the #1 spot on the Billboard Album Chart and spawning an unmatched string of definitive 1960s anthems, including "Good Lovin'," "Groovin'," "How Can I Be Sure," and "A Beautiful Morning."
By mid-1968, the American music industry had almost completely completed its transition to stereo for commercial retail store shelves, rendering retail mono versions obsolete. Because commercial mono copies of this definitive compilation were never offered to the public, true dedicated mono mixes were pressed strictly in micro-batches as White Label Promo "Sample Copies" for radio station disc jockeys. Complete with its iconic, lushly designed gatefold jacket, this clean promo copy with authentic internal A-12814/5 master stampers is one of the scarcest surviving monuments to the peak of the blue-eyed soul movement.
